Incomplete VS Complete Injury

A key component of initial hospital examinations and treatment is the diagnosis of a spinal cord injury as incomplete or complete.

Incomplete means some sensory (feeling) or motor (muscle) function exists below the neurological level of injury, including the lowest sacral segment (S4-S5).

Complete means no sensory or motor function exists below the neurological level of injury, including the lowest sacral segment (S4-S5).
