How to Choose a Dress When You Are Wheelchair Users?
Summer is in the Air! The sun is starting to rear its head back into the skies full-time and most of us are thanking the heavens for it. While we love dressing up in sexy boots and sweaters during the chillier seasons, most of us are ready and yearning for some little on the lighter side. Its not all fun in the sun, however, as with the arrival of the heat also come the hassle of shaving your legs! Having a weak day? Run out of time? Missed a spot? No problemo! ENTER: the Maxi Dress!
This really is a piece that every girl in a wheelchair should have in her closet. You can find them in sexy solids and flirty prints to suit your every mood and will get you out of a bind on more than one occasion. I like to think of it as The Little Black Dress of the daytime activities. It can be worn virtually anywhere and dressed up with different accessories to give you a myriad of different looks.

Here are some tips when looking for yours:
• Stick to jersey and/or knit materials. These tend to breathe and be stretchy making it much easier to slip on and off, as well as comfortable to sit in all day. These are especially more suitable for my curvier wheelie girlfriends or those that might have heavy contractions or scoliosis. If you choose one that isn’t made of a stretchy material, be sure it wide enough that its easy to sit in but still has some shape through the mid section, or youll look like you’re wearing a tent. The idea here is to make your life easier, not have you go thru hell just to put it on.
• Check the length! You dont want it to drag on the floor and go way past your feet or you run therisk of it getting caught in your wheels! (and while the damsel in distress look has be tried and proved to be an excellent hunk-magnet, we strongly discourage this kind of event). Equally however, you dont want it to be too short either, as showing anything above your ankles will turn a number like this from sexy to frumpy in a hott second.
• Dress it up! Dress it down! Wear it during the day with some comfy strappy sandals, flip flops and flats or take it out for a night on the beach town with the right pair of open toed strappy heels.
• Accessorize! A floppy hate, a belt, some earrings, bangles, sunglasses, summer scarf,… the possibilities are endless.
