This list of 25 things that may surprise the general public about what people with spinal cord injury can do was compiled by Shepherd Center peer support supervisor Minna Hong. She received input from other peer support staff members, as well as former patients who are now peer supporters.

  2. Solo skydiving
  3. Fly a plane
  4. Dry dog mushing
  5. Race car driving
  6. Swimming
  7. Surfing
  8. Scuba diving
  9. Fishing
  10. Hunting
  11. Camping
  12. Sip-and-Puff Quad Bowling
  13. Horseback riding
  14. Body building
  15. Triathlon competition
  16. Eagle Scout activities
  17. International travel
  18. Gardening
  19. Snow and water skiing
  20. Work 40 hours and have a great social life
  21. Pay taxes
  22. Women with spinal cord injury can have babies and deliver them naturally.
  23. Be a great single parent
  24. Some of us want to be buried standing.
  25. Laugh a lot
