Eastern State Penitentiary - Terror Behind The Walls

The Eastern State Penitentiary - Terror Behind the Walls is wheelchair accessible. I didn't think that I would be able to go through a prison that was built in 1829, but they (Terror Behind the Walls) made it easy for me to get around.

There is no parking at the State Penitentiary so they set up for people to park at the Philadelphia Zoo. From there a bus with a wheelchair ramp picks you up and drops you off right in front of the prison. I went through the whole tour just like everyone else. There are only 2 detours that I had to make because of steps so I ended up just taking a different route. Which was even scarier because I went through them by myself. Other people can come with you but I wanted to go through them alone. Plus they were short and I met up with the people I was there with at the end of the detour.

They do a good job there with all that goes on. It's a great Halloween experience. The other thing they do is, they let the staff and characters know that someone in a wheelchair is coming through, so a lot of them jump out low and in my face. Which was good so I didn't have to worry about any of the characters jumping out and tripping over me. It's definitely worth going there if you liked being scared half to death.
