Meet Meg Johnson

On each Thursday, we present a new Success Story. Inspiring people who when life hits too hard, transform their woes into an unconditional strength which drives them to achieve their dreams. As one of Meg’s favorite quotes from Dolly Parton: “The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain!” This new success story will make you smile.
Today, we are going to meet with a woman, mother and wife who is also a motivational speaker, writer, artist, and teacher. She is a busy woman dedicated to the community with the willingness to share her life’s experiences with the hope that it will benefit others.
In 2004, Meg Johnson’s life changed dramatically. A hiking accident left this former dancer paralyzed from the chest down. Meg is now a C7 quadriplegic. When anyone might think that their life is over, Meg found in herself the strength to move forward, even though she was unable to walk. From that point on, her motto has been “When life gets too hard to stand, just keep on rollin’!”
With support from her now-husband, Whit, Meg became involved in many areas. She started to play for the Utah Scorpions Wheelchair Rugby Team. This wasn’t “girly” enough for Meg and she jumped (so to speak) at the chance to participate in the Ms. Wheelchair America Pageant. Because a “Ms. Wheelchair Pageant” did not yet exist in her home state of Utah, she competed as an independent delegate at the national pageant in New York, winning the Spirit Award. Once home, she and Whit founded and currently direct the Ms. Wheelchair Utah Pageant, which has becomeone of the largest in the country.
Meg kept going, traveling the country to spread her positive state of mind. Her motivational speeches, which inspire women, were quickly launched on CDs . This was then followed by a book titled “When Life Gets Hard…” Meg now has several books and live speeches on CD in book stores and for sale on her website.
You can also glean inspiration from Meg in her monthly emailed newsletter, Meg’s Monthly Message: A True Story from My Life to Help You in Yours. This is where she opens her heart and speaks about her life, feelings, and experiences. You really fall into these messages while reading. The stories are sincere and touching.
